Parmiter’s is committed to offering an extensive academic Sixth Form curriculum.  All students are required to study three subjects at A Level and many complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).  Students who wish to study four subjects at A Level must email 6thformadmissions@parmiters.herts.sch.uk, except for Further Maths.

All subjects are taught as two-year linear courses with students sitting all examinations at the end of Year 13. Students who study Mathematics and Further Mathematics are expected to take two further A level subjects.

To study four subjects at A Level please email 6thformadmissions@parmiters.herts.sch.uk. A student will have to achieve 5 or more GCSEs at grades 8/9 to select four A Levels. 

Alongside their A Level subjects, all Year 12 students attend an introductory programme of study skills sessions, which leads to an opportunity to take the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Students' timetables will also include supervised study periods at school in addition to the home study expected for A Levels.

The EPQ gives students the chance to practise undergraduate skills and to demonstrate interest in and commitment to a subject of their choice. It can take the form of a dissertation (a long essay), an artefact (something created, such as a piece of sculpture or a website) or a performance.
