The Parmiter’s House system is a long and proud tradition, and is currently overseen by Head of Houses, Ms O’Malley. All staff and students belong to one of six Houses; each House is named after a benefactor or an Old Parmiterian (more detail below). House Captains are appointed yearly, across all year groups, giving students a meaningful opportunity to enhance leadership skills and champion our school values of community, aspiration and opportunity.

Parmiter’s students and staff enjoy a varied and exciting programme of House events, competitions, challenges and activities, such as: The Great Parmiter’s Bake Off, House Panto, Random Acts of Kindness, House Chess, House Poetry (which is linked to the National Poetry by Heart competition), Staff Traitors, Parmiter’s Easter Egg Hunt and, of course, the enormously popular weekly House Quiz. We also regularly run subject specific events/competitions, often in conjunction with celebrations e.g. British Science Week or World Maths Day. We also have events/competitions that coincide with Cultural Week and World Book Week, as a couple of examples. Students and staff also participate in a wide range of House sporting competitions including: cross country, HYROX, dodgeball, netball, football, table tennis, darts, rounders, cricket, badminton, pickleball and the annual Parmiter’s Sports Day. House Points are also awarded for conduct and attendance.

Beven (Red)

Chairman of Parmiter's Foundation from 1886-1911, Thomas Beven gave unstintingly of his time for a quarter of a century and performed the opening ceremony of the new school in Approach Road in 1887.

Carter (Yellow)

Named after Elizabeth Carter who gave a site for the Parmiter's Almshouses and School in 1723 and bequeathed income from property in Bethnal Green for the benefit of the Charity.

Lee (Green)

Named after William Lee, the first Treasurer of Parmiter's Charity, who at his death in 1710 left a large sum of money towards the building of a school-room in Bethnal Green, in addition to smaller sums intended to benefit the education of poor boys.

Mayhew (White)

Edward Mayhew's generosity enabled the Charity to purchase land at Cambridge Heath, and at his death in 1724 he left to the Foundation income from further property in Bethnal Green.

Renvoize (Blue)

Under the terms of his Will, Peter Renvoize bequeathed a substantial sum to the Foundation on his death in 1842 and hoped "that the trustees and their successors will not object to keep my family vault in Bethnal Green church yard and the tomb thereof always in good repair and condition".

Woolley (Purple)

An old boy of the School, G.H.Woolley was a Second Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion of the London Regiment (Territorial Force) who was awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in April 1915.
